Maccabi Haifa overpowers Hapoel Ra’anana

Maccabi Haifa beats Hapoel Ra’anana 3:0 with goals from Sallallich (’38, ’69) and Rukavytsya (’76).

Maccabi Haifa entered Matchday 17 of the Israeli Premier League when they faced Hapoel Ra’anana. Assistant Manager Rob Maas and the Greens were fresh off their win against Hapoel Tel Aviv in penalty kicks to advance in the State Cup. They looked to keep their winning form and take home three points.

In the 4th minute, Caio picked up the ball in the middle of the pitch and carried the ball to top of the box but Ra’anana goalkeeper, Assaf Tzur, made a comfortable save. In the 12th minute, Caio had another chance from the top of the box, but he hit a weak shot at Tzur. With good build up play in the 22nd minute, Sallallich crossed a dangerous ball into Caio, but his header was just wide of the post. Minutes later, Awad had his first shot of the match, trying to curl the ball into the far post, but Tzur was well positioned to make the save. In the 38th minute, Ra’anana lost the possession and Caio picked up the ball. The Brazilian carried the ball and hit a pass to Sallallich, who then slid the ball past Tzur to take the 1:0 lead.

In the 52nd minute, the Greens sustained pressure on the Ra’anana defense with possession and Rukavytsya won a corner kick. Minutes later, the ball fell to Caio’s feet in front of the goalkeeper after another corner kick, but Tzur was again able to make the save. Creating dangerous opportunities, Maccabi Haifa began to find their rhythm in the second half. In the 62nd minute, Klaus replaced Awad, as Rob Maas used his first substitution of the match.

In the 69th minute, Sallallich collected a deflected shot from Rukavysta in the box, and the midfielder scored his second of the match, putting Maccabi Hafia up 2:0. In the 74th minute, Shlomi Azulay replaced Roei Kehat. In the 75th minute, Ben Vehava received his second yellow card and then a red card, leaving Hapoel Ra’anana with ten men to finish the match. Seconds later, Rukavytsya scored the third goal of the match, putting Maccabi Haifa up 3:0. In the 81st minute, Amit Zenati replaced Rukvytsya in Haifa’s last change of the match. In the 83rd minute, Caio had another strong shot from the top of the box, but Tzur made a fine save to keep the ball out. Hapoel Ra’anana was unable to break the Haifa defense and Maccabi Haifa won the match 3:0.
