Rob Maas spoke at the post-match press conference following Haifa’s 3:1 defeat to Maccabi Tel Aviv. Kjartonsson (‘1, ’54) and Battocchio (’85) scored for the visitors. Rukvytsya (’65) scored for the Greens.
To begin, Maas spoke about the match: “Each player did not show all the capabilities they are capable of. We allowed an early goal, that is something that does not need to happen. We played against a team that is going for the title and they have more experience. We tried to get back into the mach, but after losing the ball a lot and turning it over, they used that punish us".
On the supporters, Maas said: “I can understand the supporters’ frustration, I also want to win in each match. I cannot say that the players didn’t want it and didn’t work hard. We had chances in the first half and in the second half we started well out of the dressing room. We tried to get back into the match but we lost the momentum that we had".
Touching upn the young players, Maas added: “I am complementing the young players because they are showing good ability. The other players need take more responsibility and offer their experience. There is pressure in each match, its normal in football. We must continue forward, because on Saturday we have an important match".
To finish, Maas talked about the State Cup match against Maccabi Tel Aviv next week: “First, we have a match on Saturday, therefore, Im still not thinking about the State Cup match. We will continue and improve from match to match".
