The quarter finals of the Israeli State Cup 2019/20 encountered Maccabi Haifa with Hapoel Be’er Sheva at Sammy Ofer Stadium. The match was held without fans, following the Ministry of Health's instruction. Only five days after the original date of the match and eight days after The Greens victory over the same Be’er Sheva in the last league fixture, the two met again knowing that the winning team will secure the ticket for the semifinals. 
 
Maccabi arrived at the match after the 4:0 victory against the same Be’er Sheva in the league. Marco Balbul’s side eliminated Ness Ziona (3:1) on the first round and Umm al-Fahm (0:1) on the last 16 round. On the other hand, Be’er Sheva arrived at the match after eliminating FC Ashdod (4:3) on the first round and Maccabi Netanya (2:1) on the last 16 round.
