Maccabi Haifa welcomed Hapoel Acre to Sammy Ofer on Matchday 16 of the Israeli Premier League. Assistant Manager Rob Maas looked to get Haifa back on trace with a win at home, after going winless in his first two matches since taking over from Guy Luzon. Before the match, the club honored Dekel Keinan on the pitch.
Maccabi Haifa opened the match trying to find space attacking using the width of the pitch. Dos Santos had the first shot from 40 meters out, allowing Acre goalkeeper, Ram Strauss, to make a comfortable save. In the 12th minute, Sallallich put a dangerous ball across the box, but the Greens could not find the back of the net. Mabouka put a dangerous ball that found head of Dos Santos in the 16th minute, but the Brazilian put the ball just over the goal. Sallallich found more space in the 21st minute, when he had a shot from the edge of the box, but was saved by Strauss. Hapoel Acre scored in 31st minute on a counterattack against the run of play when Ben Azubel was left unmarked at the back post for an easy tap in goal to put the visitors up 1:0. In the 44th minute, Awad had a great effort that hit the far post and was cleared by the Acre defense. The half ended 1:0.
The Greens opened the second half with more urgency, looking for the equalizer. They continued to send balls into the box from the flanks, looking for someone to get on the end of the crosses. In the 63rd minute, Gili Vermouth replaced Roei Kehat in the midfield. In the 75th minute, Amit Zaneti replaced Ofir Mizrahi as Rob Maas tried to find the right combination of players to score the equalizer. In the 88th minute Dekel Keinan entered his last match for the Greens, replacing Mabouka. Maccabi Haifa was unable to equalize and lost the match 1:0 to Hapoel Acre.
