Maccabi Haifa entered Matchday 18 against Maccabi Tel Aviv at home in Sammy Ofer. The Greens were coming off a 3:0 win in Matchday 17 against Hapoel Ra’anana in which they hoped to keep the positive momentum and goal scoring.
 
Maccabi Tel Aviv began the match well with a goal coming in the second minute from Kjartansson. In the 9^th minute, Maccabi Haifa had their best attacking spell of the match with high pressure on the backline of Maccabi Te Aviv creating dangerous chances for the home side. In the 25^th minute, Omri Glazer made a close-range save to keep Tel Aviv out of the goal. In the 28^th minute, the Greens worked a set play on a free kick setting up Caio for an opportunity on goal, but chance went just wide of the post. In the 40^th minute, Sallallich went at his defender and passed a ball to Raz Meir inside box, but the defender’s shot was wide of the goal. The first half ended with Maccabi Tel Aviv ahead 1:0.
 
Maccabi Haifa began the second half by stating their intentions of going forward and looking for a goal by taking the ball into the Tel Aviv box seconds after the whistle. In the 54^th minute, Kjartansson scored his second of the match, beating Omri Glazer from the top of the box. Then, in the 60^th minute, Shlomi Azulay replaced Roei Kehat for Haifa’s first substitution.
 
In the 66^th minute, Rukavytsya scored a goal when he slipped the ball past the goalkeeper, Rajkovic, towards the touchline following a superb pass from Shlomi Azulay and pulled the Greens within one goal. In the 69^th minute, Klaus had a chance to equalize, but his header was of the goal. Seconds later, Mohamad Awad replaced Sallallich in Haifa’s second change of the match. The last change for Assistant Manager Rob Maas came as Ofir Mizrachi replaced Caio in the 83^rd minute. Seconds later, Battocchio scored for Maccabi Tel Aviv, putting the visitors up 3:1. Maccabi Tel Aviv finished the match 3:1, beating Haifa at Sammy Ofer.
