The Greens travelled south to Ashkelon for Matchday 26 of the Israeli Premier League to face Hapoel Ashkelon. Maccabi Haifa looked to grab valuable points from the side in thirteenth place. The Greens had 1,500 supporters travel for the match.
In the 11th minute, the first chance for the Greens came when Raz Meir went up the left flank and had a shot from 25 meters out. The shot was just over the goal. In the 19th minute, Roi Kehat had a dangerous shot from 20 meters out, but the ball was deflected out for a corner. In the 32nd minute, Sallallich stole the ball in Ashkelon’s half and darted to the touchline, beating multiple defenders. Unfortunately, his final cross couldn’t find any of his teammates and the ball went untouched across the box. The first half ended 0-0 as both sides looked to break the deadlock.
In the 49th minute, Roi Kehat sung in a ball to the far post. Kostadinov got his head to the ball and forced the Ashkelon goalkeeper, Aiyenogba, to touch the ball over the goal. In the 62nd minute, Shlomi Azulay took a dangerous free kick, which Aiyenogba couldn’t collect, and Rukavytsya was unable to put the rebound in the back of the net. In the 69th minute, Maccabi Haifa made their first change of the match when Ofir Mizrachi replaced Roi Kehat in the midfield. In the 76th minute, Azulay had another opportunity form a free kick, but Aiyenogba made a superb save to keep Haifa off the score sheet. In the final seconds, Aiyenogba again denied the Greens after a chance fell to Azulay and then Rukavytsya. The match ended 0-0.
