The Greens entered Matchday 29 against Hapoel Ashkelon looking to grab a vital win and three points after their loss last week.
The match began with the first opportunity coming in the 5th minute. Sallallich was able to cross a ball from the right wing, which Rukavystya brought into the box and had a shot, but Ashkelon’s goalkeeper, Aiyenugba, was able to make the save. In the 8th minute, Raz Meir had a long-range, Shlomi Azulay received the ball from Kostadiov, but the Ashkelonn goalkeeper was able make the save. Early in the match, Maccabi kept the pressure by pushing forward. In the 25th minute, Sallallich found Kehat from the right wing. The midfielder had a shot and was able to collect his own rebound off the post to score, putting the Greens up 1:0. But, later in the half, just before the break in the 37th minute, Ashkelon was able to equalize through David Manga.
The second half began with a change from the Greens as Etienne Reijen replaced Rami Gershon. In the 64th minute, Kostadinov had a shot from outside the box, but the ball was just wide of the post. In the 71st minute, Mabouka sent in a cross that found Azulay’s head, but the header went over the goal. In the 72nd minute, Caio replaced Azulay and then in 82nd minute, Ofir Mizrahi replaced Roei Kehat. The Greens found their go-ahead goal in the 87th minute from Caio. The substitute was able to capitalize on a rebound from Aiyenugba to secure three points for the Greens.
