The team met this evening (Saturday) F.C Ashdod at Smmy Ofer Stadium in the second round of the Japanika League. Maccabi arrived to this match after a lost in the first round to Maccabi Tel Aviv. On the opposite side, the team from the south, came to the match after a dramtic win against Bney Yehuda with a goal in the 90th minute and that’s despite losing several matches at the Toto Cup.
After a goalless first half Maccabi's pressure increased at the beginning of the second half. At the 50th minute Mohamad Awad gave Maccabi a 1:0 lead after a magnificent teamwork. At 78th minute Ashdod was left with 10 players after Dan Bitton was sent off. In the 95th minute, Shon Weissman set the score 2:0 for Maccabi.
