18th round in the Japanika League: Maccabi met this evening (Saturday) Hapoel Be’er Sheva. Both teams arrived at the match with the same amount of points on the table (25). Maccabi dominated the pitch but did not manage to score in the first half, despite the fact that the team reached a number of opportunities. At the beginning of the second half Loai Taha was sent off leaving the southern team with 10 men. At the 72’ minute Maccabi finally scored when Neta Lavi took a shot from 20 meters, the ball hit Elhamed and went inside. Shlomi Azulay doubled the score 3 minutes into the stoppage time after many chances next to Harush’s goal. It was Maccabi’s first win at Be’er Sheva since 2009. On Wednesday Maccabi will play against Sakhnin for a place at the quarterfinals of the Israeli Cup.
