Maccabi Haifa - M. Tel Aviv 3:1

34th fixture of the Israeli Premier League: Maccabi Haifa hosted M. Tel Aviv at Sammy Ofer Stadium. A huge evening at Haifa as Maccabi defeats the rival from Tel Aviv 3:1 and keeps the first place, four points ahead of Be’er Sheva. Kanichowsky surprised and scored first for the visitors (14’), but Haziza took advantage of a massive mistake in the yellow defense to level the score (38’). In the second half there was only one team on the pitch when Saba completed the comeback (50’), and scored the third (62’). The next match against Netanya could be the championship match.

Maccabi’s line-up: Josh Cohen, Daniel Sundgren, Dylan Batubinsika, Sean Goldberg, Pierre Cornud, Mohammed Abu Fani, Tjaronn Chery (C), Dia Saba, Omer Atzili, Dolev Haziza, Frantzdy Pierrot.

10’ Saba passes the ball to Pierrot who shoots from inside the box, the ball hits a yellow defender and is deflected for a corner kick.

12’ Chery provides a brilliant incisive pass towards Saba who shoots powerfully, but the goalkeeper denies the first attempt. Saba is first to the rebound, but his second attempt goes over the crossbar.

14’ GOAL. Kanichowsky shoots from outside the box and scores. 0:1 for the visitors.

16’ Sundgren crosses the ball into the box, Haziza heads it downwards to Atzili who shoots from a hard angle, but the ball hits the post and goes out of play.

26’ Saba receives the ball at the edge of the box and shoots it powerfully, but the ball goes above the crossbar.

38’ Chery shoots with his left foot from 26 meters, but the ball goes wide.

39’ GOAL! Haziza intercepts a weak pass from Tel Aviv’s defender to his goalkeeper, the goalkeeper tries to clear it, but the ball hits Haziza and goes into the net! 1:1

43’ Cornud leaves the ball to Haziza who shoots a curved ball from the edge of the box, but he misses the target.

45’ Pierrot leaves the ball beautifully to Haziza who penetrates into the box and shoots, but the ball goes high into the stands.

Second Half

50’ GOAL! Cornud shoots the ball from 25 meters, the goalkeeper deflects it poorly straight to Saba, he shoves the ball in and completes the comeback! 2:1 for Maccabi!

62’ GOAL! Sundgren sends a long ball towards Chery who controls the ball just outside the ball and passes it to Saba who shoots an accurate ball straight to the far bottom corner and scores! 3:1 for Maccabi!

75’ Substitution for Maccabi: Mahmoud Jaber in, Dia Saba out.
